Mental Health Programs
Independent Living
Supported and/or supervised housing is available through the Crystal Run Village, Inc. Mental Health Programs for individuals and families with the goal of independent successful living. The Supported Housing Services Program provides independent living opportunities and case management services to people with mental illness or those dually diagnosed with a developmental disability living in Orange County. The program fosters an atmosphere of security and consistency of quality of life with the objective of self-sufficiency for the individuals and their families.
Case Managers negotiate and secure community resources, which may include: housing; employment; financial assistance; 24-hour crisis intervention; children’s and family services. Enhanced assistance can be provided in the home and in the community in areas such as:
- Life skills training
- Job coaching
- Mentoring
Invisible Children’s Program
The Invisible Children's Project is a nationally recognized program that originated in Orange County. The focus of the program is to give parents with a mental illness the tools for providing a nurturing and safe environment for their children. Support services can include:
- Family case management
- Respite child care
- Parent support groups
- In-home clinical consulting
- Parenting education
- Financial aid access
- Family recreational activities
- Children’s art therapy
- Vocational and educational services
- Medical/medication counseling
- Referrals
Orange County Single Point of Entry
A new initiative of the New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH), Single Point of Entry is intended to provide adults with mental illness a simplified process for accessing community support services. The Orange County Department of Mental Health (OCDMH), community-based residential and case management service collaborate for a reduction in the time from referral to receipt of services; increase in the number of high needs individuals receiving priority services; better community integration and community tenure, and improvements in service appropriateness and outcomes.
