We received the following information from the Executive Director of Interagency Council of Developmental Disabilities Agencies, Inc. regarding the Lobby Days that were held on February 27th and 28th in Albany.
With over 200 people, self-advocates, parents, board members, agency personnel and all others, we delivered our message, and they listened.
As a State united, the COPA agency teams visited most of our legislators’ offices and made visits “off the floor” to send the messages about the #bFair2DirectCare, OurkidsareYOURkids and Strong Nonprofits campaigns, the highlights among our ‘asks.’.
We had visits and messages from our legislators at our morning gathering in the Legislative Office Building yesterday that got us ready to advocate with enthusiasm and purpose.
A big thank you to the IAC agencies and all of the COPA agencies who showed up and remembered that we still need to make the trip and raise our voices.
It does make a difference!
We will look over the next week or two for the One House Budget Bills that will hopefully contain support for our children and adult services. These will go to the Governor, and hard negotiations will then begin.
There will be a bFair2DirectCare Rally on 3/25 at Noon in Albany. We’ll keep you all posted on that one as well
