Residential Opportunities

One of the most significant decisions to be made in planning for the future of a person with a developmental or intellectual disabilities is the decision to seek a residential setting outside of the family home. The CRVI Residential Services Program offers optimum community inclusion, comfort, enjoyment, convenience, beauty and security. Suburban and rural environments offer easy access to the outdoors, shopping, amusements, neighborhood happenings and religious services. The services provided in these home-like settings include 24-hour staffing, meals, daily program planning, daily living skills, transportation, medical assistance and help in defining personal preferences and individual goal achievement. CRVI staff empowers the people we support to make personal choices and realize dreams by providing them with resources to be integral members of the community.

The agency’s ever evolving residential program was modernized through a monumental reconfiguration plan initiated in 1991 with the relocating of young people housed at Greerwoody-Crest, a 90 bed Intermediate Care Facility in Pomona. The agency’s Fallsburg campus and original residential school in Middletown closed in early 2002. The organization’s rigorous development campaign has successfully provided the residents of these large congregate Care Facilities with the opportunity to move into supervised group homes throughout Orange, Rockland and Sullivan Counties. The plan culminated in a total of 46 residences housing 4-14 people, offering individualized services and a path to person centered living and community inclusion.
